Description
Nick the Magpie provides a fun way to improve your children’s reading, writing and comprehension skills. Challenge cards are placed in the bird’s beak, instructing pupils to pick out particular types of writing from fiction, non-fiction and poetry, and then place examples in the bird’s nest. It’s a great way to provoke group discussion on contrasting styles of writing and different authors, whilst providing the visual reward of a full nest.

This kit contains:
Nick the Magpie – A great visual reminder for the children when ‘reading as writers’. With a mouth that opens and shuts, the bird holds the challenge cards in his mouth.
12 Double-sided Nick the Magpie Challenge Cards – These cards sit inside Nick’s beak to provide children with a focus of what to look out for while they are reading.
Nick the Magpie Nest – This is designed to hold the examples of writing that the children find. The children can then share what they have found during independent reading with the rest of the class.
